The website was designed by the University’s Website Committee (Web Team) which was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Maimako on 9th January, 2017 and given the task of reviewing the institution’s erstwhile website with the aim of updating and making it more user friendly.
Chairman of the Web Team, Dr. Stephen Akintunde thanked the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the confidence reposed in members of the Team towards carrying out the assignment and providing the requisite support throughout the period of the assignment.
According to Dr Akintunde, who is also the University Librarian, the old website had to be replaced because it was not interactive and not properly integrated with contemporary applications. He stressed that members of the Team worked assiduously and sacrificed so much to develop the new website within the approved time frame.
The Committee Chairman disclosed that the new website is enabled with both horizontal and vertical menus while the pages on the menus do not override each other thus ensuring that a user does not get lost while surfing through the website.
Among other unique features, the website was designed to aggregate different Forms being used by Staff of the University such as Duty Tour Form, Absence from the University Form, Annual Leave Form, Retirement and Advance Forms as well as others which can only be accessed by bona fide staff of the University. There are also portals created specifically for Alumni of the University, where all information concerning them and their activities including updated data base can be obtained.
In his presentation, Dr Akintunde also explained that the website contains menus which could be easily accessed including Linkages and Affiliates, University Strategic Plan, Institutional Repository, Admissions, Non-NUC Funded Programmes, Research Centres under the University and highlights of upcoming Events in the University. The Committee Chairman was however quick to note that it is an ongoing process.
Responding, Vice-Chancellorof the University, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako commended the Website Committee for discharging its assignment creditably and especially praised members of the web team who are new to the system. The Vice-Chancellor promised to host a dinner in honour of the Team members.
The unveiling which took place at the Senate Chambers of the University, had in attendance other Principal Officers of the University including the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academic), Professor Nelson Ochekpe, Registrar, Mr. Monday Danjem, the ICT Director, Professor Tanko Ishaya, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments and other Senior Staff of the University.
