Fake JAMB official who duped 70 candidates sent to prison

Emeka Anugwo, a 37 years old suspected fake JAMB official has been arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly collecting the sum of N3,000 each from 70 prospective JAMB candidates to assist them to generate remita code, change their ages, courses and institutions without the consent of the examination body. A Police source said that the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ikoyi Division, Lagos, SP Tijani Mustapha ordered his men to arrest the accused following a complaint by the JAMB office in Ikoyi, Lagos through the co-ordinator of the Lagos JAMB office, Mr Sunday Aladegbaye. The accused, a resident of Ibeju-lekki from Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria was charged before an Igbosere Magistrate Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of felony to wit, cheating 70 JAMB candidates. FG Approves Establishment of 6 New Private Universities

The Federal Government has approved the establishment of six new private universities in the country. This was part of the decision taken during a meeting of the Federal Executive Council held on Wednesday in Abuja. The new private universities will be established in Abia, Delta, Rivers, Oyo and Lagos. The newly-approved private universities are Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta State; Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia; Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan; Pamo University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt; Atiba University, Oyo State; and Eko University of Medical and Health Sciences, Lagos.

UniJos Unveils New Website

The University of Jos has unveiled a new website. The website was designed by the University’s Website Committee (Web Team) which was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Maimako on 9 th  January, 2017 and given the task of reviewing the institution’s erstwhile website with the aim of updating and making it more user friendly.  Chairman of the Web Team, Dr. Stephen Akintunde thanked the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the confidence reposed in members of the Team towards carrying out the assignment and providing the requisite support throughout the period of the assignment. According to Dr Akintunde, who is also the University Librarian, the old website had to be replaced because it was not interactive and not properly integrated with contemporary applications. WAEC Releases Nov/Dec GCE 2017 Result - See Statistics

The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) yesterday released the results of the 2017 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE November/December) for private candidates. This was announced by the council’s Head of National Office (HNO), Mr. Olu Adenipekun, at a news conference in Katsina. According to him, 135,945 candidates registered for the examination, but 133,223 wrote the test. A break down shows that 65,483 candidates obtained credits and above in five subjects and 46,824 obtained credits and above in six subjects. Adenipekun said 131,485 candidates that sat for the examination had their results fully processed and released. He said 1,738 candidates had yet to have their full results released because they had a few of their subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to them in the course of registration or writing the examination. “Such errors are being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates get their result

HOW TO CHECK JAMB "CAPS" ADMISSION STATUS WITH ANY BROWSER

I will Like to save people the stress of checking their admission status on the CAPS. JAMB POSTPONED DATE FOR SALES OF 2018 UTME REGISTRATION FORMS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that it has suspended the sales of the 2018 JAMB application forms which was to begin on Wednesday November 22nd, 2017. This was made known by JAMB's spokespers According to him, the postponement was necessitated by the delay in meeting the agreed deadline by the publisher of the compulsory reading text meant for prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME which was supposed to be delivered on or before November 7th, 2017. “As at close of work today, the publisher had not provided the 1.8 million copies required and this development painfully forced to the Board to shift the date from Wednesday 22nd November, 2017 to a date to be announced soon. ”JAMB said it regrets all inconvenience occasioned by this postponement as it is working round the clock to announce a new date soon”, the statement said. JAMB Bans Use of Wrist Watches And Pens In 2018 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has has disclosed that it will ban the use of wrist watches and pens during the conduct of its 2018 test. The board’s Registrar, Is’haq Oloyede disclosed this when speaking to newsmen at a one-day sensitisation workshop for Computer Based Test, CBT, centre owners on Wednesday in Lagos. “What we are doing here today is to appraise the registration and conduct of our past examination and we have taken some lessons from our experience. “To this end therefore we have introduced some measures that will further add to the integrity of the registration process as well as the conduct of the examination proper. “For instance, we discovered during the conduct of the last examination that some electronic devices such as pens, wristwatches and other devices were used to perpetrate examination malpractice. “So, for next year, we have banned the use of wristwatches and pens by candidates and other persons in the examination hall. “We are

    The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB)has revealed that the 2018 JAMB UTME Registration Form will be available before the end of November. According to him, the board is planning to meet with all stakeholders on November 15 and the sale of the registration document will definitely commence before the end of this month He advised candidates to check the JAMB syllabus and Brochure so that they can study the process and minimise the errors that usually occurs during the registration process. Suspected cultists behead EKSU student in Ado Ekiti

     The headless body of Ayodele Temilade, an undergraduate of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, was Sunday night found at the university’s gate where it was allegedly dumped by cultists.    The discovery of the headless body barely five days after the killing of Ojo Segun, a third year student of the same institution by suspected cultists created panic within the university community. Some students of the institution, who spoke under anonymity, said the corpse of Ayodele Temilade was discovered at the gate of the school on Sunday night around 10pm. They, however, explained that they did not know how the corpse got there.    A close look at the corpse posted on the social media revealed that the head of the victim was severed and the body inflicted with several machete cuts. UI TO ADMIT 3,500 OUT OF 20,949 APPLICANTS FOR 2017/18 SESSION

     University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka has offered some insights into the recently conducted Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) test by the Institution , just as he promised that the 2017/18 admission process will be concluded soon.     Contrary to insinuation in some quarters that the test was too tough and that science candidates were not allowed to use calculator which was allegedly responsible for failure of many, Prof. Olayinka disclosed that the highest score in the test was 86 from a medical candidate, while a candidate each from Law and Electrical and Electronic department respectively equally posted impressive performance . FG to compel JAMB on 200 cut-off for prospective teachers

  The Federal Government has said it  prevail on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to enforce a cut -off of 200 marks for candidates coming into the teaching profession.     The Minister of State for Education , Prof Anthony Anwukah , who said this in Abuja on Monday in an interview with our correspondent, noted that the 100 marks cut - off obtained presently for prospective teachers through the colleges of education and other higher institutions “ was unacceptable. ”    The minister said the low cut -off would bring a fall in the standard and quality of teachers produced in the country. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has been appointed the 12th Substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos. This was contained in a statement made known by the information unit of the university. The statement said the institution followed the guidelines for the appointment of vice chancellors and provosts, as recommended by the Ministry of Education. The three candidates that were selected are Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Olukayode Amund, and Ayodeji Olukoju. The statement said Mr. Ogundipe scored the highest mark in the exercise. “At the end of the Governing Council meeting of Friday, 27th October 2017, Council approved the appointment of Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe.” Mr. Ogundipe who was appointed a professor in 2002 became the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the institution on April 1, 2016. He is a Professor in the Department of Botany and also the Director of Academic Planning at the University of Lagos. He was born on May 31, 1960. He is married and blessed with three children.
