Police in Maiduguri arrest mother of 10 for aiding armed robbers

The Borno Police Command, has arrested a 41-year-old housewife, Jummai Buba, for aiding armed robbers in the state. Jummai, a mother of 10, was arrested in Maiduguri for aiding her son, who belongs to a notorious armed robbery gang. The Commissioner, Mr Damian Chukwu, made the disclosure on Thursday while parading the suspects in Maiduguri. Chukwu said the housewife was arrested in Maiduguri alongside seven other suspects, who attacked motorists and snatched vehicles in Jos and Abuja. He explained that the lady was arrested for conspiring with her son to conceal the vehicles snatched from their owners. “The lady served as an accomplice in concealing the stolen vehicles. “Whenever her son robbed cars, he will send it to his mother, who will in turn contact buyers in Maiduguri,” he said. Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue has refuted speculation in some quarters that he was rearing snakes. Ortom refuted this on Tuesday in Makurdi while interacting with journalists. He said the news was anchored on falsehood with the intention to cast aspersion on his personality and portray him in a bad light. The governor said that though owning a snake farm was not a crime, he had never contemplated undertaking such an activity. He said that he was currently rearing poultry, piggery, snail, cattle, goats, and mushroom among others, but could and would not venture into snake farming. UNIPORT expels 6 students, suspends 7 workers over misconduct

The Senate of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), on Tuesday announced the expulsion of six students of the institution for various offences. An official bulletin of the university made available to Newsmen in Port Harcourt, stated that the offences included examination malpractice and incitement. According to the bulletin, the decision to expel the students was taken at the 432nd Senate Meeting of the university held on Thursday.
