A 10-year-old schoolgirl, Mitchell Mucheni has been killed by a lion just metres from her home in Zimbabwe.

According to Zimbabwe’s state newspaper – The Chronicle, Mucheni had gone behind her house in the south-eastern Chiredzi district to relieve herself in the company of her aunt Mawonei Muchacha when a stray lion pounced on her, mauled her to death and dragged her body 300 metres away from the spot of the incident
Zimbabwean Police Spokesman, Kudakwashe Dehwa, while addressing newsmen on the tragic incident said: “We have received reports of a sudden death. A lion killed a 10-year-old girl from Chiredzi.
“The girl had gone behind their house during the night to relieve herself when she met her fate.
“She was allegedly attacked by a stray lion and her body dragged for 300 metres before the lion disappeared.”
“Game park rangers and Mitchell’s family spent the evening searching for the child. Her body was discovered in a bush near her home.”
“The 10-year-old’s devastated aunt said she couldn’t do anything to help.”
