200 Level Unilorin student drowns in Sallah day tragedy
The death of a 200 Level student of University of Ilorin, who reportedly drowned in the swimming pool of a popular hotel at Oke-Odo area of Ilorin, during the Eid el-Fitr celebration, has thrown the university community into mourning.
It was gathered that the late student, identified as Olaitan Bolaji Samsudeen, reportedly went to the hotel to swim with his friends, but when it was discovered he was having issue getting out of the pool, his friends tried rescuing him.
Contacted, the Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs of the university, Alhaji Kunle Akogun, who confirmed the incident, said: “The name of the deceased is Olaitan Bolaji Samsudeen; 200 Level student of the Department of Arts Education, Faculty of Education.
“He got drowned at the hotel’s swimming pool on Sallah day. The university commiserates with the family and pray God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.”
