LASU sets to admit only 3,500 candidates for 2017/2018 academic session

Lagos State University, LASU has denied the rumour making
the round that the institution was set to admit 5,500
candidates for her first batch merit list of 2017/2018
academic year. A statement allegedly made by Mr Ademola
Adekoya, the school Head of the Centre for Information,
Press and Public Relations, CIPPR.
Reacting to the allegation, Mr Adekoya in a release who
urged the public to disregard the information, noted that
the school will only admit 3,500 candidates.
The statement reads, “ The attention of the University
Authority has again been drawn to the information making
the rounds on the Social Media, purportedly quoting the
Head of the Centre for Information, Press and Public
Relations of the University as saying: “LASU Set to release
2017/2018 first batch merit admission list: claims to admit
5,500 Candidates out of 36,500”
The University Management wishes to state unequivocally
that such information is false, baseless and unfounded.
For emphasis, Lagos State University will be admitting
Three Thousand Five Hundred (3,500) candidates for the
2017/2018 Admission Exercise, across all programmes in
the University.
Consequently, members of the University Community and
the General Public are advised to disregard such
information.
Recall that in a bid to ensure transparency and a merit-
driven admission process, the University recently launched
an Application to automate subsequent admission
exercises in line with the directive from National
Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja thus cutting out
undue interference from individuals in the admission
process.
For emphasis, Lagos State University will admit ONLY 3,500
Candidates and not 5,500 as claimed.”
